3D Concrete Printing meets Architecture at NordBau 2026

3D Concrete Printing meets Architecture. At NordBau 2026, TH Lübeck, Knaack & Prell Architekten, NELCON and INSTATIQ are demonstrating how 3D concrete printing can combine new architectural possibilities with the requirements of real construction projects.
Under the title “Informed Concrete – coDE Dialog”, the partners are presenting large-scale wall and façade demonstrators at a 1:1 scale. The focus is on new surface structures, construction details and double- and multi-layer wall systems. The demonstrators were produced using INSTATIQ’s mobile 3D concrete printing technology and concrete supplied by Thomas Beton.
What makes the project particularly relevant is that the solutions shown are not just research prototypes. They were developed for the planned multifunctional building at the Öjendorfer Weg sports facility in Hamburg and are intended to be integrated into the real construction project from early 2027.
The project therefore demonstrates the full path from a digital idea and research to 1:1 prototyping and ultimately to a real building.
“3D concrete printing does not only automate part of the construction process, it also opens up completely new design possibilities for architects. The key is to connect these opportunities with the requirements of a real construction project at an early stage,” says Markus Schilling, Director Business Development at INSTATIQ.
From the opening of the trade fair, the exhibition attracted strong interest from industry professionals as well as representatives from politics and the construction sector. Schleswig-Holstein’s Minister-President Daniel Günther also visited the exhibition to learn more about the potential of 3D concrete printing and the façade solutions on display.
The demonstrators can be seen at NordBau in Neumünster until September 13, 2026.
